Heng LI ( Fita )
Introducion to Fita Heng Li's Selfless Dedication
Fita Heng Li, a full-time auditor, has dedicated the past 15 years of her life to rescuing over 1,800 stray animals. Li has spent more than 1.5 million US dollars of her own money for these animals.
Early Passion for Animals
Growing up, Li developed a deep love for animals and shared her home with cats and dogs. These furry companions provided her with endless joy and companionship throughout her childhood and adolescence. In 2009, a visit to an animal shelter in Wuhan ignited a lifelong passion for animal welfare. The longing eyes of the abandoned animals touched her deeply, and she became determined to make a difference.
Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of abandoned animals in Wuhan surged, prompting Li to establish the Wowore Sue Animal Rescue Center. At its peak, she cared for over 1,000 animals, providing food, shelter, and medical care. Despite the challenges, Li remained committed, seeking donations, selling her property, and exploring every avenue to ensure their well-being.
Rehoming and Global Impact
Over the past four years, Li has successfully rehomed more than 1,200 dogs in countries such as the United States, Canada, and Europe. Her selfless efforts have not gone unnoticed, as her story has been featured in renowned publications like TIME magazine. With the support of a small but dedicated team of volunteers, Li continues to provide a safe haven for hundreds of stray animals.
Current Efforts and Future Inspiration
Today, Li's rescue center is home to over 600 dogs and 50 cats. These animals have been rescued from various dire situations, including the streets, animal markets, and even restaurant kitchens. Li's unwavering dedication to animal welfare has inspired countless others to join her in her mission.
